LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
Using PERFO tiles can help increase the number of points awarded to building projects in the LEED certification system.

The following list provides suggestions for earning LEED points through the use of PERFO grass reinforcement tiles.
SUSTAINABLE SITES Points
SS Credit 5.1 Site Development - Protect or Restore Habitat
To conserve existing natural areas and restore damaged areas to provide habitat and promote biodiversity
1
SS Credit 5.2 Site Development - Maximize Open Space
To promote biodiversity by providing a high ratio of open space to development footprint
1
SS Credit 6.1 Stormwater Design - Quantity Control
To limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing
on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants
1
SS Credit 6.2 Stormwater Design - Quality Control
To limit disruption and pollution of natural water flows by managing stormwater runoff
1
SS Credit 7.1 Heat Island Effect - Nonroof
To reduce heat islands to minimize impacts on microclimates and human and wildlife habitants
1
ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE
EA Credit 1 Optimize Energy Performance
To achieve increasing levels of energy performance beyond the prerequisite standard to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use
2
MATERIALS & RESOURCES
MR Credit 4 Recycled Content
To increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials
2
SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems)
PERFO turf reinforcing tiles are ideally suited for use in Sustainable Urban Drainage
Systems
With growing urbanisation, the increase in hard landscaping, roads, driveways and parking areas has dramatically reduced the capacity for natural sustainable drainage. This urbanisation coupled with changes in rainfall patterns, means continuing growth in the volume of surface water runoff that needs to be handled.

SUDS aims to replicate the natural drainage pattern of the area in question preventing excessive run off which can cause flooding and pollution.

PERFO installation does not involve any ground disturbance and allows natural drainage of the area through the ground. The PERFO system can also easily be removed allowing land to be returned to its original state.
BREEAM
BREEAM is a sustainability assessment method for masterplanning projects, infrastructure and buildings. It addresses a number of lifecycle stages such as New Construction, Refurbishment and In-Use
Using PERFO tiles can help increase the number of credits awarded to building projects in the BREEAM certification system
